Director

Siovahn A. Walker, Ph.D., is Director of the Council for European Studies (CES).  She holds a double B.A. in Medieval and Modern European History from Brown University, and both an M.A. and Ph.D. in Medieval European History from Stanford University.  Her academic area of expertise is the pre-modern history of moral philosophy and psychology, as well as the development and organization of high medieval educational and religious institutions.  In addition to her academic credentials, Dr. Walker has substantial experience working in academic administration, publishing, and marketing.  Prior to assuming the Directorship of the CES in autumn 2010, she was employed at the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), first as a Program Officer and, subsequently, as acting Director of Communications.
